I am a bit of an inventor, probably more of an innovator. I am always on the look out for under utilized products that
require very little skill to use, but are effective.
I was skiing one day in central California, and while riding a chairlift, I met a chemist from MIT. My brothers son graduated from MIT, so we both had something in common, and the conversation continued for several chairlift rides. At the end of the day, we went for Apres ski at the local pub and the conversation turned to a product this guy had invented. He explained that purely by accident, he came across an very effective solution
that actually restored certain types of plastic. He explained that this solution bonded with the plastic on a molecular level, and actually filled in the scratches and haze, making the parent plastic clear. But, he said, "I have no idea what to use it on". He attempted to use it to restore ski goggles, but the plastic used in ski goggles is not compatible with this solution. He tried it on eyeglasses, with mixed results. He tried it on Iphones, (don't do it!) the results were not great. He had this great product, but was not sure how or where to use it.
A few weeks later, a vial of this "stuff" showed up as he said earlier he would send me a sample. It was sort of a milky liquid. No scent, nothing explosive, just some harmless liquid, that was really sticky while it dried. I had this sitting on my desk for several months, trying to figure out what I could use it for. Looking at my well used Tundra, I noted my windshield was pitted. I wonder? Tried it. Not good.
That evening, as I headed to my truck, I noticed my headlights were looking really bad. I wonder? I wet a corner of a towel and applied the liquid to the headlight lens. BAM! Clear as new. Wow. This is it. However, it ran a little and there were some streaks. Not perfect, but I felt it was something I could work with. Driving home, I couldn't help notice how many headlight lenses were hazy, cloudy, and generally cruddy looking. Probably something along the lines of 20% has noticable hazing.
For the next year, I cleaned every headlight in my neighborhood. Now no one here has cloudy headlights. I cleaned them all. I sat back a watched for a year to see just how this stuff holds up. While some hazing did return, nothing like it was before I applied the solution a year ago. No peeling, no yellowing. Those that did haze up again, another application of the solution took care of it.
As far as the streaks mentioned earlier, that was solved by using a special applicator we call a "Sponge Wipe". It is sort of a thick fabric that is kind of spongy. The nice thing with these sponge wipes is they are smooth and apply the QuikClear in a measured, non streaking method. The perfect combination.
I has been three years since I first discovered this product, and it is now that I am actually taking it to market.
It has all the elements of a successful product.
1. It is cheaper than anything else on the market
2. It is easy to use. Almost fool proof.
3. It works as good as, or better than anything else on the market today.
